Adam Carral: the conversation
Mornings in the Lab · Interview transcript
Center stage, Adam Carroll joins us. No, not Adam Corolla. No, Adam Carroll, an absolute savage of originality, sharing how he built a comedy career by refusing to repeat himself. The guy's going to talk for 30 minutes and not repeat himself once. That's exactly what I suspect's going to happen here. Adam joins us from up in California today. He is aka Adam the Bomb Carral. You're a stand-up comedian, BMA nominated theatrical actor. And you've never ever gone on stage with the same material twice. Like seriously, dude. Brand new every time. Is it improv? Is it written night before? Like tell us your process, man. >> It's a dialect. I'm a Gemini. So, you know, it's that other side of me that will take control of not doing the same set twice. It's like I don't know if it's hard, but for me it's easy because it's like I want to give you something different every time you come see me. You got to get something different. Every time you see me, I may talk about this one day. I may talk about that one day. Old people, whatever. It don't matter. I'mma come with something different because I look at my audience. I look at the crowd. Sometimes it's a young crowd. Sometimes it's an older crowd. Sometimes a middle age crowd. So I look at the crowd and see what exactly I can work with that will keep them in mind. Like hey, you going to see a show. No, you come see the show. You going to see Adam Bomb show. I'mma drop the bomb on you. >> That's just reading the crowd, baby. 100%. >> I love it. Been doing it for 15 years now, and I love it.
