Matt Lancor: the conversation
Mornings in the Lab · Interview transcript
If you train hard but still feel puffy, tired, and stuck, it's not always willpower. Sometimes it's your gut waving a red flag. Most men treat gut health like a side quest. Then recovery stalls, cravings get loud, and the mirror stops cooperating. We've got Matt Lancor in the lab. And if you want better recovery, easier fat loss, and stronger training days, you'll love his story. Matt studied material science engineering at the University of Illinois. But what pulled him into this started in rugby, not a classroom. During a national rugby championship run, he noticed his performance changed when his gut was off. That's when he discovered probiotics. As an engineer, he sometimes entered processed food plants. What he saw was horrifying. His turning point came on an engineering project inside a beer brewery. He felt a spiritual conviction to build a kombucha facility for active people. It was so strong that Matt walked away from a six-figure engineering career. In 2014, he was back at his mom's house brewing kombuchade. He convinced his rugby teammates to be the first customers. Then word spread and athletes in CrossFit and martial arts gave it a shot too. Today, Kombuchade self-manufactures in Chicago using the same scoby Matt started with in 2014. His mission is helping 100,000 people balance gut health.
